Quantitative Lung Imaging Software

VIDA’s new software platform, Apollo®, extends VIDA’s offering from a scientific solution to a product usable and scalable into a clinical and clinical trial environment. Apollo has significant algorithmic, workflow and dataflow improvements applicable to high volume airway and parenchymal analysis.  Airway and parenchymal segmentation and measurements are described below.

Regulatory Compliance

VIDA’s Apollo software and its predecessor, Pulmonary Workstation 2.0 (PW2) are FDA 510K approved (KO83227)  for use in the U.S. Apollo software provides reproducible CT values for pulmonary tissue, essential to provide quantitative support for diagnosis and follow up examinations.

Apollo can be used to support the physician in the diagnosis and documentation of pulmonary tissue images (e.g., abnormalities) from thoracic imaging data. Apollo features a real-time interactive evaluation in space and time for CT volume data sets that provides the reconstruction of two dimensional images into three-dimensional image format.

VIDA Diagnostics has achieved CE Certification No. CE 573054 for Full Quality Assurance based on examination for compliance under the requirements of Council Directive 93/42/EEC, Annex II, Section 3.2.

Additionally, VIDA holds Certificate No. FM 573060 and operates a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 13485:2003 for the design, manufacture, distribution, installation and servicing of post processing software utilized in the diagnosis and documentation of pulmonary and smoking related diseases via datasets acquired from various medical modalities.

With the aforementioned approval and certifications, VIDA is authorized to sell their pulmonary quantitative analysis software, Apollo, for clinical use in the US and European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.

Airway Analysis

The airway analysis functions in Apollo include the segmentation, labeling, measurement, and editing tools for the quantitative evaluation of pulmonary disease.

VIDA’s proprietary airway measures have been used and refined through multiple clinical and academic trials and can adapt measurements to the trial requirements. Apollo offers simple and powerful airway system visualization, both for the airway tree and for analysis of airway paths with CT context, all with proper anatomical labeling.

Parenchyma Analysis

VIDA created the industry’s first and most comprehensive automatic lung densitometry tool, with extensive use in marquis clinical trials and research institutions. VIDA’s density analysis is by whole and individual lung, thirds, lobe, and sublobe.

Clinical Release

Clinical Release for US and Europe. Apollo is FDA-approved and CE-certified for clinical use in US and EEA. VIDA is not available for clinical use in other parts of the world. If you are interested in using the software for an academic or clinical trial, please contact us for available options or you are invited to submit a request for more information.

Apollo Data Anaysis

The following options are available for Apollo data analysis:

  • Option 1 - VIDA Core Lab Services. Data is sent to VIDA for on-demand analysis and the results are returned to the site.
  • Option 2 – Apollo Software License. Apollo software is installed at customer site as a yearly license.
